Sunday Drive

But about the drive mentioned below...

After seeing numerous instances of Rudolph grazing from the manger and Santa Claus bearing frankincense or myrrh and the reindeer being guided by a star in the east, I have to mention this piece of advice.

Please encourage your neighbors to keep their decorations consistent. Secular or religious. Religious or secular. Nativity or North Pole.

There is no such thing as a "nice combination" of both.

You mean to tell me Rudolph didn't guide the Three Wise Men to the little baby Jesus with his nose? :-)

My gripe with Christmas decorations is they put them up too dang early in the store. I swear they had the trees out in October before Halloween here. Crazy.

reindeer do not live in a manger and therefore should not be hovering around the plastic baby jesus.

Or, if they want to put up both sorts, SEPARATE them. For gods sake, how hard is it to put your Nativity over here and your Santa over there? This could explain why children so often confuse Santa for God...wait. Does that make baby Jesus an elf?

zan you may be onto something re: kids' perceptions of Santa and God...

both dispense a sort of justice based on whether you are naughty or nice. both are some vague concept of "north" of us. toymaking elves must seem pretty angelic...

hmm. i'm going to have to question my kid about this.

I feel ya and I totally agree! At least make the effort to be consistent.

Come on you guys. That would mean if you have a Santa on your tree you cannot top it off with an Angel.

Actually I don't think baby Jesus can be anywhere near a tree......

It is culture meets religion. I'm okay with that. Because in a non christian world it would simply be culture collides with culture.

moksha, i gotta stand firm on this one.

in my defense, i have to say (when i do decorate) i only use the round balls as ornaments and two huge bows as tree toppers. i was way too lazy this year--thanks to the persistent efforts of my nephew, though, we have a charlie brown thing going on. ;-p

and a new icon/picture/avatar... are you back? please?

Well stand firm. Just run from this house because we are some mixing mother fuckers! LOL!

New avatar because I love Trendy Wendy.

At my daughter's scholastic fund raising book sale, I bought a bumper sticker (not sure it will go on my car, I have never done the bumper sticker thing) that says "Cute On The Outside, Angry on the Inside!" LMAO!
