These guys were kids from good homes, athletes with access to plenty of quality women, and, because they were at Duke, young men of above average intelligence and education. In other words, they fit no known profile for rapists we know of. Conversely, the victim is an unwed mother, a student of the worst schools in the Nation, and a common stripper that is, a woman who peddles virtual sex.

Presented Without Comment...
...because I'm so damn tired of this sentiment. Found this at blacklogs.com, authored by a ricland. Tried to find the original blog or whatever but failed. Maybe I'll comment later.

Revelations and ruminations from one southern sistorian...

ditto. If I have to hear "those nice young boys" one more time, I might throw something at the TV/radio/computer/etc.
Ugh. I love how they not only talk about the alleged perpetrators as being "good boys," but also make it sound as if being raped comes with the territory of being working class and a single mother.
re: the "athletes with access to quality women" line. We automatically assume that an athlete can have any woman he wants? Does the woman have no agency in this worldview?
And if "access" to quality women would invalidate their "need" to "access" a not-so-quality woman (by however we define that), why would they want to hire a stripper in the first place?
Is anybody out there questioning the very nature of male sexual prerogative?!?
Oh, and the "good boys" comment is out the window because there is an EXTENSIVE record on the lacrosse team as a whole (and at least one of the accused) for drunkenness, disorderly conduct, gay bashing, etc.
i hate how they make it seem like the woman is trash: shes a stripper, went to a school thats wasn't duke (doesn't make it the worst in the nation)--and she doesn't peddle virtual sex--i hate that quote--
you start to hope someone wrote this being sarcastic/facetious/etc, but I found the source: http://thericlandreport.blogspirit.com/
Many of his posts seem to carry the spirit of the idea of the pathological, moral-less, unsuccessful, "self-obliterating" world of African Americans. I'm starting to think this is a pre-requisite for black conservatism??
Yep, good boys! One of the accused rapists was in court today in Washington, D.C. on an unrelated ASSAULT CHARGE. Oh, but he's a good boy from a nice family! (Who has been in trouble with the law recently...where there's smoke there's fire...)
