With three columns. And the ability to put stuff behind a break/fold--I looked at blogger help to figure that out, and maybe I'm too sleepy now, but it was talking about adding stuff to the header, then to some other parts of the template and I said forget that! I don't want to have to redo widgets.
I had a lovely one designed by Miss Zoot before, but I'm not sure she still does them. I screwed it up messing around with my template.
Anyway, any recommendations? Keep in mind, though I do enjoy the AMAZING salary of an untenured historian at a public university in the state of Louisiana, I'm on a budget.

Gecko and Fly is where I snagged my template (which Space Cowboy then customized). I know you mentioned wanting 3 columns, which I used to prefer myself, if you recall my old design, but with the ability to tab across the top, it's not so important to me now. YMMV, of course, but I thought I'd at least recommend them. :-)
Final Sense has some great Blogger Beta templates, too -- and an entire three-column section.
If you'll add me to the blog as an admin temporarily (or give me your username and password) I'd be happy to go under the hood and do the technical stuff you want. For instance, I can add the code to put stuff under the fold -- I've done it already for my blog and Gordon Taylor's. You'll want to choose a new layout first, though, as any changes I made would be erased when you switch templates.
FYI, I got my template from Pannasmontata, though I did a pretty significant customization myself (here's the original template). Strandsofpearl did my images for me -- you get a nice discount when you're dating an image designer. :)
Jeremy, thank you. I'll do that as soon as i get to a computer (I'm on my cell now). I'll explore some of the ones on the site Melissa left.
Sure thing -- just let me know when you're ready for me to make modifications.
